Could you be missing out on help to pay your Council Tax bill?

Services

If you’re on a low income or claim certain benefits you may be entitled to get help with your Council Tax bill. This is usually known as Council Tax Support.

Photo of a council tax form and money Councils across the country run schemes which allow you to pay less council tax or not pay it at all depending on your circumstances. You can apply if you own your home, rent, are unemployed or working.

What you get depends on:

  • Where you live - each council runs its own scheme
  • Your circumstances (for example income, number of children, benefits, residency status)
  • Your household income - this includes savings, pensions and your partner’s income
  • If your children live with you
  • If other adults live with you

Richard Bampton, Head of Income at A2Dominion, says: “If you’re on a low income or claim benefits you could be missing out on this important payment. It can make a big difference to your household finances.

“We’ve got an experienced and friendly team who will be able to talk through your personal circumstance and let you know if you could be eligible. Please get in touch with us to find out more.”

Council Tax Support is not included in Universal Credit

Council Tax Support is not included in Universal Credit and therefore if you are entitled to Council Tax Support, you have to make a separate application.

How do I apply for Council Tax Support?

You’ll need to contact your local council. If you are entitled to Council Tax Support, it will be credited to your Council Tax account.
