If you’re on certain benefits, you’ll get the Warm Home Discount Scheme automatically. However, the money doesn’t come to you directly – it goes to energy suppliers who’ll discount your bill before 31 March 2024.
Richard Bampton, Head of Income at A2Dominion, says “This is a great opportunity for customers to save on their energy costs. If you’re entitled to receive the discount, you’ll receive a letter by early January 2024. If you’d like to talk through your situation to find out if you could be eligible, we have a friendly team who can help.”
If you haven’t received a letter from the government by early January 2024 and you think you may be eligible, please contact the Warm Home Discount Scheme before 29 February 2024.
Eligibility
You will qualify for the scheme if:
- You receive the guarantee element of Pension Credit
- You are on certain benefits. For example, but not limited to Housing Benefit, Universal Credit and Income Support.
When will I get the £150 and how will it be paid?
The payment will be made between October 2023 and March 2024. Don’t worry about the type of meter you use, as there are two ways the discount will be applied:
- If you top up using a pre-payment meter – you will be sent a top up voucher.
- If you are on a standard meter – the money will be credited to your account.
