Social housing landlords will expected to meet the new standards, which are being developed by the Regulator of Social Housing.
The standards aim to ensure tenants live in safe, quality homes, have choice and protection and can hold their landlord to account.
They will be supported by a Code of Practice, which gives examples of the sorts of things landlords should think about to make sure they meet the standards.
