The event, which was held this month, provided an opportunity for customers to talk to us about local issues and the various support services available to them.
Contractors from our partner Pyramid Plus were on hand to help customers with a range of same-day repairs, such as fixing bathroom taps and door handles.
A team of volunteers from Chequers also removed unwanted bulky items.
One of our customers, Hannah, has lived on the Green Man Lane estate for around 20 years and was delighted with the support she received on the day. Pyramid Plus staff inspected a suspected case of damp in her bedroom, while our removals team disposed of her unwanted chest of draws.
She said: “I’ve lived at Green Man Lane for a long time. There are a lot of neighbours that I have known for the last 20 years, some of them have become good friends.
“The session today was really good. I came for a repair and that has been raised and they came to see me in 15 minutes, so I am glad.
“It’s really useful to have these sessions because I didn’t have time to arrange for two jobs to be done, but coming along today means I can get both of them done at the same time.”
Our Community Investment team put on many of these events throughout the year, which see colleagues from across the business come together to make a positive difference.
Tenancy Sustainment Officers gave advice on money management, while employment advisers were able to help those looking for jobs or opportunities to maximise their income.
An arts and craft session also took place for young children, with colouring and plant potting to keep them entertained during half-term break.
In 2022/23 our community investment team spent £1.3m on community investment activities, supporting more than 5,800 people.
